Job Description: Senior Automation Engineer (Immediate Opening)

Cambridge Security Seals seeks a Senior Automation Engineer with strong mechanical and electrical engineering skills and a proven track record of integration with fully automated injection molding production processes. This is an immediate opening at our state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Pomona, NY.

The primary focus and key responsibilities of this position are the design, development, maintenance, documentation, and integration/implementation of complex, high speed assembly equipment utilized in the high-volume production of security seals. The successful candidate will be responsible for system specification, machine tooling, fixture design, and automation programming. Hands-on and supervisory experience of automated equipment assembly, electro-mechanical equipment, and electro-mechanical design of production fixtures is required.

As Senior Automation Engineer, you will work closely as part of a Continuous Improvement development team to innovate while cultivating and nurturing a quality culture, reliability strategy, and high-performance infrastructure. This position requires someone who can think out-of-the-box in terms of automated manufacturing techniques and processes to propose and develop innovative and effective solutions to any challenge encountered, as well as recommending improvements to our current processes. You will also be required to interact with and oversee contract manufacturers for outsourced projects.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • The design and development of automation projects including initial concept, design requirements, system architecture, test plan, prototype fabrication/testing, and final production release.
  • Working within multi-discipline project teams to develop drawing and specification documents, and develop PM protocols (including spare parts, service intervals, training/guiding maintenance personnel, etc.).
  • Ensuring that customer requirements get translated into professional and accurate Statements of Work and RFQ responses by understanding both product specifics and manufacturing and assembly techniques and variables.
  • Creating detailed documentation including, but not limited to, design input requirements, specifications, design of experiments, acceptance test, validation protocols, detailed drawings and bills of materials.
  • Selecting and specifying equipment components, such as lasers, motors, pneumatics, conveyors and other part-feeding, finishing, and assembly components.
  • Documenting process, procedures, protocols, and training materials for staff and stakeholders.
  • Evaluating and recommending engineering modifications to equipment or processes to improve product quality, increase line uptime, increase throughput, reduce costs, and enhance plant safety.
  • Assisting in on-boarding, training, coaching, and mentoring Junior Engineers.
  • Staying current with new and evolving relevant technologies.
  • Performing computer-aided design and drafting (CADD) work that requires an expert knowledge of CADD using Solid Works.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in field with 10+ years of related work experience or Masters degree in field with 5+ years of related work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience to perform at this level.
  • Hands-on experience with electro-mechanical design, development, troubleshooting, and maintenance of automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Understanding of (ideally, experience with) plastic injection molding processes, laser marking, and other automated finishing and assembly techniques and processes.
  • Strong proficiency in Solid Works 3D modeling.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project, and Outlook).

This is a manufacturing-facility-based position in Rockland County. You must presently live in or have a reasonable daily commute to the Rockland County area. In addition, you must pass initial and random drug testing.

Job Description: Machine Maintenance Technician

Reports to: Director of Manufacturing
Department: Manufacturing
Employment status: Full-time/Exempt

Overview:

This role involves maintenance support for the facility and production equipment. Execute scheduled preventative maintenance and ensure all procedures are documented on time. Support the manufacturing operation and by providing technical assistance, troubleshoot, and repair industrial machinery and automation equipment with mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical or electronic components and processes.

Daily Responsibilities:

  • Equipment maintenance and repair
  • Work with team to maintain the facility to company standards.
  • Project work at the direction of Director of Manufacturing
  • Continuous communication with department leads, supervisors and managers.
  • Must have reasonable shift flexibility.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and familiarity of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical and mechanical systems.
  • Familiarity with programming, troubleshooting and operating Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
  • Technical expertise in repairing and maintaining production and automation equipment.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, compressed air and control systems.
  • Hands on technical knowledge.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with team personnel.
  • Ability to work in a timely and efficient manner.

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years maintenance experience or equivalent combination of education, certification and work experience.
